This wasn't a brand-new shop with nothing online. Twenty-six years of digital footprint. An active marketing agency. Over 200 Google reviews. Listings, a real local reputation. By every old playbook, they should have been easy for AI to recommend. They weren't.
Here's the gut-punch for any owner: you've done the work for decades, you've got hundreds of Google reviews, you're paying for marketing, and a ready-to-book buyer still asks AI who to hire — and gets your competitor's name. What we did
In June 2026 we measured ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude — our core surfaces — under buyer-realistic discovery questions. Across those platforms, competitors were winning too many of the recommendation moments that turn into new clients. A 26-year footprint, over 200 Google reviews, and an agency retainer still couldn't fix what AI couldn't see.
Coastline showed the practice and their marketing agency where ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude were sending buyers, what was blocking them from the shortlist, and what to fix. We led the off-site and on-site work with their team. An expanded follow-up read (a broader prompt set, not the identical baseline pack) showed the practice beginning to appear in more discovery answers — directional evidence, not a same-prompt verify rerun.
What’s happening now
The practice reports that new clients have been calling and booking — and telling the front desk they found them by asking AI who to see for injury care, chiropractic, and sports recovery. That attribution is client-reported, not a Coastline survey. What we measured was the recommendation gap that made those conversations hard to win.
Separately, the practice reports receiving multiple new clients who explicitly said they found them through AI. That's the commercial outcome owners care about — booked appointments and new relationships — and we label it as client-reported. A same-prompt-pack verify rerun is how we prove answer change on the record; that loop is the engagement standard, not something we invent from mixed prompt sets.
